Great Scottish Holidays is a gentle, collective campaign created by professional self-catering owners to thank guests who choose to stay in their properties, and to highlight just how important this is to local visitor economies across Scotland.
These businesses are typically small, independent micro-enterprises and form a vital part of Scotland’s tourism bedstock. They support rural, coastal and urban communities alike. Without self-catering, many local pubs, cafés, restaurants, shops, activity providers and visitor attractions would struggle to survive. Equally, without these much-loved local amenities and experiences, the self-catering sector would also face significant challenges. It is a delicate and interconnected ecosystem, where each part depends on the other.
This site begins by providing downloadable ‘Thank You’ posters for self-catering owners to display in their properties – a simple way to recognise the positive difference each guest makes.
We will shortly introduce a gallery showcasing these posters in place, celebrating the people, properties and communities behind Scotland’s visitor economy.
